Hi this is my precription and i would like to know what my options
are. -2.50-2.50X040 for the right eye and -6.00-2.75X160. I'm 50 years
old and my optometrist fitted me with toric lenses with monovision and
i don't like it. are there any soft bifocal that correct astigmatism?
what about hard contacts? TIA

Both exist, and you may get lucky and find some that fit. The best RGPs
I tried were miraculously perfect, just like having REAL eyes -- but for
only about 1 second out of 60 before they slipped out of focus. The
soft ones didn't work at all, and I tried perhaps a dozen different pair
(8 RGP, 3 or 4 soft). The same fitter got my friend's bifocal RGPs
right on the first try :-(

Yes, there are both soft and RGP lenses for your needs. My personal
experience with fitting soft toric multifocals in your power range is
that is difficult to achieve really good distance and near vision. But I
dont have all the info to really understand your situation. If you have
cornea toricity equal to your spectacle correction, then RGP multifocals
would likely be a far better choice.

The solution with the best chance of providing excellent vision is
single vision contact lenses (RGP or soft) with progressive addition or
near/intermediate eyeglasses worn simultaneously as needed.

Did you give the monovision system a couple of weeks to "adapt"? Is the
near lens in your non-dominant eye?

I hope that helps.
