Buying Prescription Glasses in USA

Hi All

I'm going on holiday to USA later in the year, and I wondered if I
should take my spectacles prescription to get a better deal.

Can anyone see advantages or pitfalls in my plan?

You should carry your spectacle Rx on your person regardless, as it is
a real calamity to break your glasses on the road. I don't have
personal experience with your health care delivery system, but I have
been told by associates that those of you with nationalized health care
get overcharged on materials (like glasses) when there is no profit to
be made on examinations. We have a number of German citizens visit
every year to take advantage of how much cheaper that German-made
frames and lenses are sold here in the U.S.
