Choice A.B. contacts

How do these things work? My wife got them and somehow they correct
astigmatism without knowing how much or what axis?

Probably because they don't. Theyu are aberration controlling lenses
and give improved optics and the low to moderate astigmatism doesn't
seem so bad.
