My wife has been wearing contact lens for 20+ years. Now she needs reading
glasses. Can reading glasses be worn over contact lenses?

Yes. As people get older they typically develop presbiopia and their
eyesight needs more plus power for close-up work. If your wife's contacts
are a minus power to correct for near-sightedness (which is typical for most
people), then she may find at some point that these cancel each other out
and that she has close to 20-20 vision for reading and may be able to do
without both the contacts and reading glasses (or at least the reading
glasses will need less plus correction).

That is the simplest solution. Multifocal contact lenses are
available and monovision (one eye for distance, one eye for near) is
another option. She should consult with her eye care provider or
contact lens fitter to explore her options.
