It's a simple law of physics that increased light levels tend to decrease
blur due to inability to focus at a given distance. That's why your
parents kept yelling at you to turn on the lights! Not because *you*
couldn't necessarily see, but because *they* couldn't see, and watching
you made them uncomfortable!
