Corrective Procedure 06/16/06

After several consultations, much discussion with y'all, and lots of
prayer, we are going to use Supralase
( www.firstcolonialeyecenter.com/content.htm ) on Friday to correct
the astigmatism induced by a misplaced LRI which was done to OD
during cataract surgery 12/05.
Resultant current OD vision +0.75/-3.00/99
When I feel like getting back at the PC over the weekend, will cut
y'all in on how it went.

I might suggest that you explore the possibility
of using the plus lens to improve your "refractive
state" RATHER THAN subjecting yourself to
further surgery.

The surgery is obviously the cause of your
vision problems.

with the VISX Star IV tracking laser.

So ... Right Reverend ... IF your hero had deigned to answer those who
*question--* over the course of *years*, perhaps he wouldn't find
himself being *bashed* quite so much around here.

Why not be a part of the solution ... instead of the problem. Why not
encourage Otis Brown to simply answer the damned questions ... fully,

I must apologize for my previous post, It was rude to ask someone be kill-filed. Here is the way I see it:

A . Otis didn't provide any input on this topic.
B. Otis's wanna-be "Odis" made a post, ( only intent to bash Otis )
C. It seems the entire purpose of the "Odis" alias is to poke fun at Otis.

I fully agree that, Otis does seem in the minority with his beleifs on myopia ( among this group ). At least Otis's posts are on topic, and they do contribute a possibly valid solution to for myopia. I haven't seen enough data conclusively disprove his theory. I am living proof that with negative lenses, myopia progressed at the same rate the lens strength was increased.

It really doesn't matter if Otis can prove or disprove his theory. Many people that have experienced step myopia tend to agree his theory *maybe* valid.

This group is for sharing information and ideas, yet it seems like several people are ONLY here to bash Otis.

Amazing. I found the same correlation to cutting
my hair. I kept cutting my hair and my myopia kept
progressing! It's a miracle!

medical field "qualified" translates to some sort of
medical degree. This is not a faith based group.
It is based on (medical) science.

Then I guess your grasp of both the scientific method AND logic is no
stronger than Otis's, huh?

The questions I ask are direct, logical, rational, coherent, relevant,
substantive, and important.

IF Otis had ANY interest in "science" or "objectivity," well then ...
he'd answer them.

IF you cared about "truth" or "fact," well then ... you'd LOBBY for him
to answer them.

Supralase, surface ablation procedure, used Friday a.m. Doc said it
will take (took) 2X seconds to remove the epitheilum, 9 seconds to
correct the astigmatism.
No pain Friday, slept most of the day with pain meds (Good pain meds).
Doc forceast day 2 (Saturday) would be worst pain day, after that pain
would ease, (he provided a lesser strength pain med for day 3 on out)
but that day 3-5 would see slight worsening of vision.
Pain forcast accurate.
Woke this morning with no pain. Tossed the pain meds (but be advised
I take Celebrex and 3900 mg Tylenol daily for arthritis)
Anyhoo, I can now see better without glasses than I can with glasses
(lens has been removed from OD side of glasses). The earth is flat,
and my "reference circle" is round as opposed to being oval as it has
been since the initial surgery. I find this interresting. Would it
be because OD is my dominant eye and it is dragging OS along?
(OS sphere is +0.75) In any case, surgery was specifically to repair
astigmatism, and not touch the OD sphere (which is also +0.75).
Will see doctor MWF this week. Surgeon or one of his ODs called each
night to see how I was doing.
I have written above with no glasses. Vision is not would I would
want for ultimate vision, but is surely something good to build on.
Initial estimate was first refraction attempt at 3 weeks. (It is my
intent to simply change the OD lens as vision warrants until it is
fully stabilized)
