LASIK: Dry Eyes

I had LASIK surgery done 6 months ago and I have experienced dry eyes
during that time. I have been using eye drops the whole time and I
dont have a bacterial infection. I had the plugs put in about a week
ago and I am still experiencing pain. Is there anything else I can do
either by medication or other surgeries?

Most LASIK dry eye clears up by 6 months. Some, however, take longer...as
long as two years. There are a number of web sites that address this
subject. However, I think that www.lasermyeye.org has the most complete
information devoted to post-LASIK complications. Other websites to
consider are www.usaeyes.org, www.surgicaleyes.org, and websites devoted to
people with Sjorgren's syndrome.

However, if you are looking for some quick advice, ask your eye doctor
about the option of a bandage contact lens to protect the corneal surface
from additional drying. Various medications such as Acular have been used
to help with the pain and inflammation.....and I could go on for hours, but
I won't. Just visit some of the websites mentioned.
