My Double Vision

Not too long ago I announced happily that my computer/ night/ fatigue
double vision had gone with my new glasses.

Well, not quite. I am still subject to this annoying occurrance.

My non scientific observations are that my double vision creeps in
only at night, only when my eyes are tired, and only when I use the
computer. It usually is accompanied by a mild pain in my bad eye --
the one that has had macular hole, retinal detachment and cataract,
and now has an IOL but the vision is corrected with glasses only to
20/60 or so. IOW, it happens only when all of the above are
combined. I somehow suspect that it's not the computer per se, but
the night lighting (regular electric ceiling light bulb, not too
bright but otherwise comfortable) on the computer screen. If I leave
the computer it usually goes away within a short time.

Any explanation? Should I quit my computer activity after night fall?

Hi Ms. Brainy,

I know of a very good technique to get rid of double images - just
remember to blink more often when using the computer. It should be
practiced easily, quickly, and lightly. In fact, correct blinking is
restful to the eyes and prevents fatigue.

You can also close your eyes and rest them for a minute or so whenever
the double images start to creep up, and after opening your eyes, they
will be gone!

> Any explanation?

Double images are usually attributed to astigmatism. Did your eye
doctor say anything about this, like if your newest prescription has
an astigmatism correction in it?

> Should I quit my computer activity after night fall?

Nope. I think the problem should cease completely if you make it a
habit to blink more often when using the computer and spend at least 5
minutes every day closing your eyes and resting them. Please tell me
if it helps.

Good luck.

Jason

Hello,

That the artificial correction has been found unsuitable and
unsatisfactory in such short time is a clear demonstation to their
uselessness.

It is difficult to understand how you can all be so foolish and blind,
to the most simple cure.

Begin the rest methods as preposed by Jason. Blink often.

Palm your eyes when you find your eyes are fatigued.

Learn to look at the sun gradually and without discomfort.

Witness by this treatment yourself how the double vision will rapidly
diminish, at first partially and then completely.

This is not diffucult, this is common sense. But so long as glasses
will continue to circulate, so stupidity continues to wreak havoc
through the world. It is fatal.

One of the problems with computer use is a drastically altered blink
rate. For once, Jason has provided some good advice to this group.

So then, for once you shall agree with the cure of imperfect sight by
rest methods.

Dr.Bates continually significanized frequent blinking as one of the
main relaxation treatment techniques.

This is a first step to cure. You have shown well intelligence, and
you must continue to play with the other test methods and see which is
most efficacious.

But Dr.Leukoma, you are still ignorant of the main truth: that cure is
possible without the aid of crutches. This is a shame.

It is a shame that I don't live in some rural Italian village where I
don't need to know the name of the streets and where I probably don't
even need to drive a car to get around. Even with 3 diopters of
myopia, I could still probably get around quite well without my
"crutches."

Hello,

But despite your implications, I do not live in Italy, actually I live
in the UK.

It is a country to the east of US. Look on the map!

OK it may be difficult for you at first, however you must not succumb
to the very bad and addictive eyeglasses. The less you wear them, the
less reliant you will become.

In many cases an improvement in the eyesight occurs without even any
practice of the rest methods, after the discarding of the glasses.

This is a fine proof to the stupidity of the glasses plague.

Therefore you will be very uncomfortable at first, but this is no
excuse. The glasses must be discarded entirely.

Then you may begin the real curative treatments, and attain a greater
central fixation.

You will soon be able to see very well, enough to go on with your job
or driving, without the use of spectacles. If this is still not
possible, then you must still persist in your Good Work.

Through further dilligent practice, you shall be priveledged that you
may await the real award of perfect sight unfold.

Yes, not only will her troubles fade away, but the unfavourable
condition of the night will become a favourable condition. The
computer monitor will become an optimum for her to look at, as opposed
to a pessium. This would be a fine advance in the road to perfect
sight without glasses, but it is very unfortunate that she is neither
willing, nor seeking a cure. She will continue to follow blindly the
doctors' poor advices. At times I feel deep pity for Ms.Brainy! The
poor, misguided soul!

So much difficulty for her, so many operations she must suffer
through... it is sufficient to make the angels weep.

All due to the incompetence and ignorance of our elder generation. But
me and Jason will hopefully become successful doctors and introduce to
the optometric profession a degree of intelligence. Or if not that, I
will wipe out your profession altogether.

Does the double vision disappear when you close one eye? If so, you
have binocular diplopia. Schedule an appointment for an evaluation by
an eye care professional who specializes in strabismus (either an
ophthalmologist or an optometrist, but somebody very experienced.)
Please don't ignore the problem; it will only get worse over time. It
sounds like by night time your eye muscles have become so tired that
you lose the ability to converge. Treatment might involve adding
prism to your glasses, vision therapy, changing the way your lenses
are made to adjust image size--depending on what's causing the
problem.

If you have double vision when looking through only one eye, you have
monocular diplopia. Possible causes are uncorrected astigmatism or a
developing cataract. I'm not very knowledgeable about this, but I
think you should see your eye care professional to find out what's
causing it.
