Eye doctor said that at my age it's time to worry about
bright sunlight -- wear sunglasses, she said.

Well, I'm already wearing glasses (for reading, computer
work, distance), and with shirts having only one smallish
pocket already loaded with pencils, papers, etc, no easy
room for a 2nd pair of glasses, eg prescription sunglasses.

In drugstores they have these clip-on shades --
indoors, have them flipped up, outdoors, down.

But the connection to the glasses is only this
cheap thin-plastic connection, that looks like
it'd break at the first chance.

--------------------------------

Must be *lots* of people with the same need --
what are solutions that they've found?

Thanks!,

David

(PLUS: I reacall from maybe 20 years ago they came
out with glasses that chemically got dark outside
in the bright sun, and got clear again back
indoors -- with some delay adjusting.

Have these things improved since then? In
what way?)

Get them at the 99¢ store when available.

My mom has used those for a long time (decades) without breaking them,
but she's very careful.

I buy lots of reading/sunglasses at the 99-Cent store, but I've never
seen the flip-down polaroids (or any other polaroids) there. Rite-Aid
had some over-your-regular-glasses sunglasses in several different sizes
that actually looked pretty good, which the flip-downs or the old-fart
sunglasses that are flat across the front definitely don't. ~$20/pair.
I intend to give them time to re-stock and then check again -- I
really hate the brown-orange color.

I haven't looked for them there for years, but I do remember once getting
about five pairs at once. You never know what might show up. I do notice
that inflation does have an effect on the 99¢ store merchandise. For
example, pure fruit juice has become very scarce except in small containers.

Thanks, all!

About liklihood of breaking the plastic hook-on "clips" --
my glasses have maybe thicker-than-usual frame-rims,
and it's a little scary to bend the plastic fingers
over the rim.

I wonder if any have more robust hook-on clips?
