I dont think a +1 or +2 is enough. For fast improvment You need more.+4
or +5,So Im taking them off for hours a day and when I do put them on
there just strong enough to see close with a little blurr.

Dear Heynita,
As you know, I advocate that we be offered the use of the plus BEFORE a
minus lens is used. Under that circumstance, I believe a "wise" person
could retain "clear" vision through four years of college.
In fact, I advocate that these ODs be prepared to DISCUSS this
possiblity (ONLY) with that initial step into nearsighedness.
That would place responsibility DIRECTLY on the person to make that
decision which will have life-time consequences for him.
You can see how "un-popular" that idea is on sci.med.vision -- which
forces the person himself to conduct his own review.
I believe that will be the future of prevention -- lead by a very
courageous Steve Leung. It is time we learn (together) to "change our
ways".
Best,
Otis
Engineer

NO! More is better in this case. For fastest improvement you need
a +10 d minimum worn around the clock. If you're going to do it - do it
right!!

Dear Heynita,

Some people are jerks -- in any profession.

The approach I advocate it that an OD have an INTELLIGENT
discussion concerning PREVENTION -- before a minus lens
is used.

The fact that a minus will instantly "clear" your vision should
be demonstrated.

But the "secondary effect" should also be described to you.

Since "prevention" is only possible at the threshold, you
could then "research" the concept -- and make your
choice.

The minus lens is like an "X-Ray". Necessary at times -- but
with certain subtle risks.

You also know that people like "Andrew" and you-know-who
are totally opposed to the use of the plus -- for prevention.

So the "opposition" is not only the ODs, but the Bates
people also.

However, when used "agressively" by Jon and Mike, the
method has been successful -- but they have total
"control".

Go figure!

Otis

I totally agree. But most engineers are reasonable
and have the ability to be objective and
look at rational evidence so don't be so
hard on yourself.
