I had LASIK over a year ago, although I doubt if that's relevant. I'm in
good health generally, no problems with blood pressure and suchlike. In
recent weeks I've noticed if I have a drink, nothing excessive, just one
pint of beer for example, then my left eye swiftly becomes quite red, but
only on the lower half. This hasn't occurred in the past, even after a few
pints. Is it a sign of any underlying problem or something that can safely
be ignored?

TIA
Gary

I am not doctor, but my only opinion is that then stop drinking. Which
maybe helpful in aspects of your health as well.

If I was drinking to excess then I'd agree with you. I'm not much of a
drinker anyway, but am just curious why this should be occurring now? My
point is that, while alcohol is triggering this, it may be indicative of
something that needs treating, in which case it's a useful early warning
sign.

Trying to get an internet diagnosis instead of seeing a doctor isn't
a smart idea anyway.

Spammer, you're right that an "internet diagnosis" isn't the right way
to solve a medical issue. But there are reasons to come to a forum like
this.

Sometimes it takes time, maybe days or even weeks, to get a
non-emergency appointment with a "real" doctor. Until then, it may be
useful to get some opinions from the 'net.

It's also one more place to do diligent research on one's condition,
even before consulting the doctor. If I can go into the first
appointment with some idea of what I have and possible treatments, I
feel much better prepared to understand - and qualify! - the doc's answers.

If one doesn't know what condition they have before consulting a
doctor, doing "internet research" would be futile.
