Is there a way to train an eye, or via the use of special glasses, to focus on a different point on the retina? I ask because my right eye's retina is burned and scarred so there is a black blob where I am trying to focus on, so I cannot read small letters from a distance for example, and when looking at lines of text, it seems the lines of text above and below warp around the centre point of where I am focusing. Is there a way therefore to try to focus on another point on the retina?

Hello Rallen, there's a technique called "eccentric fixation" where you can learn or practice how to 'use' the good part of the retina or rather, learning how to shift that blurry spot from your focusing point. Thing is though, this is of little value if your left eye is fine, and will work only when you close the good eye.
People who have only one good eye with a central scotoma (blind spot or defect) such as people with end stage macular disease are sometimes taught to use eccentric fixation. Hope that helped.
