Soft lens solutions?

I'm looking for some advise as to which of these 1 bottle solutions you
would recommend for health & all day comfort. I'm from the UK and a
previous user of Complete Moisture Plus solution until the recent withdrawal
of the product. I wear a Focus N&D but don't sleep in the lens. I tried
the Optifree Replenish and although initially it is comfortable, after a
couple of hours the lens starts to feel irritating and a burning sensation
in the eye.

My opticians have given me a sample of Coopervision Options Multi and also a
sample of Regard made by Vita Research. They say that the Regard is a
little more expensive but they have never had any negative reports from
patients who use it. If both solutions work well do you think the Regard
solution will be better for the health of the eye. Or does anyone recommend
a better solution which I can discuss with my optician? Thanks

I, too, was a user of the Complete MoisturePlus Solution. Since
discontinuing its use I've tried Optifree Replenish, Menicon Menicare
Soft and Cibavision Solocare Aqua (called "AQuify" in some countries). I
wasn't satisfied at all with Menicon Menicare, lenses dried out very
quickly early in the day. Optifree Replenish was OK but not great
either. Now I'm gonna stick to Solocare Aqua/Aquify because it gives me
best longterm comfort, not sure if it cleans as good as the others (but
I have only been using it a couple of days so far).
There was also a study (alas financed by Cibavision ) which showed
Aquify superior to Optifree:

lenses, regardless of what the instructions in the package insert says

Haven't had the possibility to try any other solutions. I know B&L makes
a multipurpose one, too, and I hadn't heard about the ones you mentioned
before. In general I would advise to stick to one of the bigger brands
simply because you will find out sooner in case there is a product
recall. And if you travel you can get the product in other countries,
too, if necessary.
There have been some studies about bacteria/amoeba killing efficacy of
the multipurpose systems but right now I can't find any links :/. I
don't think that the differences are big.

It was impossible for me to get a starter set for any peroxide systems
(even though these disinfect very well). Before Complete MoisturePlus I
was using AMO Oxysept Comfort (I think Ultracare in some countries) but
experienced problems with Acuvue Oasys lenses, that's why I switched. I
would like to try a peroxide system again but I guess I would have to
write to the manufacturers to get hold of a starter set.

For your situation, I would simply try what you have now. I've just
looked at the Regard website and it does sound like a very good option -
it would be great if you could report back here once you've tried it
(I've never seen it in stores here, I guess it's only sold in UK?).

I've been reading about the Regard solution and from
the data it does seem a good solution and preservative free so may suit me
better. I too had never seen this sold anywhere else but many of the big
stores and opticians here in the UK are tied with the manufacturers and only
sell their own particular brands. My local opticians is independent and can
stock whatever it wants. Here's some technical info on the Regard.

Thanks for reply. I tried both the Optifree Replenish and also the Express.
The Express was much easier on the eye but still a little irritating towards
end of day. The Replenish even with rinsing with saline prior to insertion
was very irritating after about 2 hours wear and felt like it was burning my
eye. It starts of great but after about 2 or 3 hours it suddenly starts to
feel irritating and then a burning feeling. I'm wondering if it's an
allergic reaction to the Tearglyde ingredient in the Replenish. I will see
how I get on with the samples given and if still no joy will discuss the
ClearCare with the optician. It's just my luck that they go and pull the
AMO Complete solution which worked great for me!!!

To update, I gave the Regard solution a try and although it didn't cause any
burning sensation like the Optifree did, I still wasn't getting the all day
comfort as I did when using Complete Moisture+. I had another chat with the
optician and they recommended I try the peroxides instead and gave me
AOSept+ to try. After a few days using this solution I can happily say my
eyes and lens feel great all day long and no problems whatsoever.

I have tried all the one-bottle solutions and still experience
discomfort. My eye doctor gave be some samples of ClearCare (the
peroxide method, with neutralizer) and this seems to work well. I had
tried it before, and it burned my eyes. This time, after overnight
disinfection, I dump out the peroxide liquid, and thoroughly rinse and
soak the lenses (fill the case apparatus) with non-preserved saline
solution. I do this for at least 1/2 hour in the morning before
putting the lenses in my eyes--and this has resolved the burning
problem.

When last I wore my soft lenses, I used only the peroxide/neutralizer
method (with copious rinsing) OR the ultraviolet/ultrasonic PuriLens
system ... OR both.

Neither of these methods caused me particular discomfort.
