Is this the Year to have Lasik?

I've been considering lasik for years, but keep putting it off in
anticipation of technological improvements & to give U.S. surgeons
more time to get experience. I'm near-sighted & wear contacts
comfortably but I do a lot of outdoor activity where it would be
nice not to mess with them. Is there an advance in lasers on the horizon
meaning I should wait another year or two? What about the surgery
to get something better than 20/20 vision that I dimly heard about?

Also, can anyone recommend an opthamologist in Austin, Texas? My
doctor is Henderson - I like him enough & he's been encouraging me
to get lasik since he started doing it (but I didn't want to be his
first patient). However, I'm not in a position to evaluate whether
Dr. Henderson is the best in Austin.

Thanks. I'm sure you're all tired of lasik questions.

Do you think that after lasik you will be able to stand the light of day?

Since you work outdoors, perhaps you can cure yourself very easily using
the sun.

The fact that the doctor insist to practice upon you should suffice to
let you run away by him!!!

What fool! With that prescription you could have been cured in few
weeks without glasses.

That's very helpful. My prescription is nearly the same as yours (-3.50).

Thank you very much.

You may want to spend a little time at our website
http://www.USAEyes.org. We provide a large amount of objective
information about refractive surgery, including what is reasonable to
expect and how to select a surgeon.
