What is the difference between these two Ciba products? I used Aosept for
years until it was taken off the market. Now supposedly it is back, but I
could only find Clear Care, which seems about the same. When Aosept was
unavailable I used Ultracare, which I didn't like at all: you needed to add
little tablets to the container each night, and the number of tablets never
equaled the amount of solution. Since you can only buy the solution with
the tablets and a new container, it seemed very wasteful in addition to
being annoying. So, now I'm using Clear Care.

AOSept is for disinfection and requires the use of a rub-on/rinse off
daily cleaner. ClearCare is essentially the same as AOSept but has a
surfactant cleaner "built-in". It is most appropriate for lenses that
are replaced more frequently (two weeks or less) but you can certainly
add a daily cleaner and use it for lenses replaced monthly or quarterly.
For people who tend to have issues with lenses getting deposits, either
product can be used with a daily cleaner.
