Are hard pmma lenses bad for my eyes?

I have been wearing pmma lenses for almost 30 years without problems.
My eye doc. insists that I should not go with another set of pmma.
That I would start having problems and that there were studies that
suggested that pmmas cause damage etc. I have tried the rgp lenses in
the past and was never very happy about the sharpness and clarity.
What's the word on pmma lenses. Are they going to cause damage to my
    eyes?

Probably not--you're just a masochist. There is more corneal edema
with PMMA than with gas-permeable lenses, and the fit isn't as tight. I
have worn both kinds, and I think the clarity is just as good with RGP.
