    Hi All,

I have blepharitis on my eyelids (and Seb Derm on my scalp and face).
The problem is, I keep developing chalazions in both my eyes, and these
always require surgery. I was told by multiple doctors that maintaining
eyelid hygiene is crucial. I understand this. This makes sense.

However, it seems that many times the actual act of cleaning my eye
causes chalazions. Twice already, I've cleaned my eyes, only to have
them swell up 1-3 days afterwards and required surgery in the end. I
    was VERY gentle.

Frankly, I'm not sure what to do. If I don't clean my eyes, I get
chalazions. If I clean my eyes, I get chalazions. At this point, I feel
the lesser risk is not doing anything, but obviously this is not a
    solution.
A doctor advised me to try and 'squeeze' my eyes (pushing the clogged
oil), but frankly, if a gentle cleaning causes such a strong a
reaction, what would a more aggresive squeeze do? Of course, it may
work if I get it 'right'.. but what if I don't?

Please - any advice!!! I feel so helpless.

    Yours truly,

    -Z-

Are you taking any oral antibiotics? If you were my patient I would put you
on oral doxycycline 100mg twice daily. Probably I would also put you on an
antibiotic ointment to be rubbed on your lids after cleaning.

Lid scrubs are the correct thing to do. You might also need to add
additional treatments to it. See your doctor!
