Can anyone advice which lens tends to give better vision for mild astigmats.

As far as I am aware the ciba lens is aspeheric so should mask mild
astigmatism better than a regular lens. The ciba lens predictor tends to
suggest a higher lens power than for a traditional no aspheric lens.

The purevision suitability tester on the website suggests that purevision is
not suitable for anything above -0.50d cyl.

A search on google however suggests that purevision is a better choice as it
is thicker lens that masks astigmatism better and provider better visual
    acuity.

How do other people experience vary with regard to visual acuity?

You folks in UK are in luck! Purevision is now available in toric, so
if you have .75 or more astig, I'd go with that. For .75 or less, Ciba
N&D and Optix should be OK.
