    contacts and boxing

Is it okay to wear contacts while boxing or fighting?

Do many boxers wear contacts while boxing?

No. World Boxing Assoc rule for professionals. The International Amateur Boxing Association does allow them (soft), but very bad
    idea for the obvious reasons.

    Do they allow hard contacts?

I do not understand the reasons for not allowing soft contacts.

I ask this because i have to prepare myself if some punk comes up to me on
the street and i have to defend ymself with contacts in my eyes.

I don't understand what adverse consequences could arise from wearing
soft lenses while boxing. Having said that, I don't believe that
boxing requires exceptional distance vision, since the sport is
performed inside a small ring and the combatants are within arm's
length, most of the time, or should be.

    Go figure.
