    Hi!

I have a simple question for all of you optical experts.

If I can see horizontal lines fine, and vertical ones blured, what would
the cyl axis orientation be (assuming you write prescription im "minus
    cyl" notation)?

    Thanks

daysleeper put fingers to keyboard and typed...
This is called 'against-the-rule' astigmatism and the minus cyl axis
    would be vertical.

You're right. I guess I should have added that I was talking about
    myopic eyes looking at distance.
Can you tell me why is it called "against-the-rule"?

Thanks to all of you who were kind enough to answer my question!
