I do not see at a distance quite as clearly as I would like with my current prescription. However, I find that when I press both lenses of my glasses closer to my eyes (maybe about half an inch), I can see the lettering of signs a block or two away more sharply than when I wear the glasses normally. Which of the three ingredients of the prescription, SPH, CYL or AXIS, would need to be changed to get the same effect as when I press the lenses closer to my eyes? SPH? That is, if I change SPH -6.25 to -7.25, will distant objects appear closer? I am not asking for a quantitative suggestion about revising the prescription. I just want to get a better idea of what kind of change would be necessary to match what is happening when I press the lenses closer to my eyes. The prescription:

    O.D. (right) SPH: -6.25 CYL: -0.75 x 15 (AXIS)
    O.S. (left) SPH: -4.00 CYL: -2.50 x 04 (AXIS)
    pd 64

    Thanks.
    David
