I had a conversation on MSN with a Dutch friend who said her eye
colour changed. I was not aware that a person's eye colour can change
over a short period so I was surprised. She showed me a picture
before, when it was green, and then afterwards, it was hazel brown.
Can the experts shed any light on this?

    Her:
Hello again... New eye, just made the picture.
    Me:
    HEY !
    Wow, who's eye is that?
    Her:
    Mine... The colour changed.
    Me:
    How ?
    Her:
    Grow up, I guess..
    Me:
When was the last picture taken?
I didn't know eye colour could change over time
    Her:
The last picture, whew, a few weeks ago.
When I'm sad, my eYes become brown.
    Me:
What, seriously? You're eye colour changed colour over a few weeks?
    Wow, that's very interesting
    Her:
    :)
    Me:
And when you're happy, your eye colour is green?
Well I'll ask the professionals about it on a eye forum, and see what
    they say
    Her:
No, when I'm neutral, my eye's green
    Me:
    And when you're happy?
    Her:
    Green
    Me:
does it change to any other colours depending on your mood?
    Her:
    Yes.
    Me:
    Which colours?
    Her:
    Neutral: Green
    Sad/Angry: Brown.
    Me:
That's incredible, I've never known of this phenomenon before
I've heard of eye colour changing over a long period of years but not
over just a few weeks, wow
    Her:
Well... It can change in a few minutes.
    Me:
    Are you serious?
Have you shown this to a Doctor?
    Her:
    No.
    Me:
What do people say when you show them this?
    Her:
I've shown you and my mother.
    Me:
    What was her reaction?
    Her:
She thought it was pretty cool.
    Me:
If you could make a video of this and post it to YouTube I'm sure
    people would be amazed
    Her:
    :D
    Me:
Are you able to intentionally control your eye colour? Or does it
    happen unconsciously?
Say, if you were to remember an unhappy memory.
    Her:
If I'm feeling really sad... Yes, then they're changing.
    Me:
So one second, if you're feeling sad, it will be brown, then if you
remember something happy, can you make it green?
    Her:
    Err... Yes...
    Me:
    That's remarkable
    Where are you from, again?
    Her:
    Holland
    Me:
    I see
So what can I call you? Like, I'm English and you're?
    Dutch?
    Her:
    Yup
    Me:
    I see
Do you know of anyone else who's eye colour changes? Like, your
    relatives or familY?
    Her:
    No

I am not an expert, but I have seen eyes changing color with tinted/
colored contacts. Especially and more pronouncely light color eyes.

I too am no expert, but I am sure my partner's eyes (irises) have
changed colour in response to levels of thyroid hormone. Not dramatic,
    but noticeable.

Hypothyroidism is a seriously debilitating condition with an insidious
    onset.
Although common it frequently goes undiagnosed.

  6. Also Xsalatan drops: "This medicine can cause your eye colour to gradually
change, by increasing the amount of brown pigment in your iris"

I 'm a believer! My wife has alway's had two light green eye's. In
the past couple months one of my wifes eyes has darkened about three
shades. Sometimes it kinda creeps me out now when I look at her. I
would really like to know what has caused this.
