Eye strain in one eye

  1. This is almost certainly largely a problem of my own making, in that I
spend 10-12 hours per day at my PC, 6/7 days a week. But this
particular issue, getting a bad eye strain in my left eye, seems to
have arisen only in recent weeks. Not long after installing my new PC
with its great 24" flat widescreen. It's positioned a little further
away than my old CRT, about 75 cm versus 60 cm, but *seems* to be
clear enough. I use my old 'computer glasses' which were prescribed
some years ago for this, as it was too much for my varifocals to cope
    with.

Can anyone suggest why I should be getting this, particularly just in
the left eye please? Could it be posture related in some way? Or am I
perhaps 'favouring' one eye? Now that I think about it, maybe a higher
proportion of my attention does seem to be towards the left side of
the screen, maybe because menus etc seem to be there more often. Or
yet another factor might be that this LCD screen is much brighter than
my old one, and I do find myself staring a lot.

Any advice/tips would be much appreciated please.

  2. In my opinion, it may just be something that has occured for no
particular reason. For instance, many people might have problems with
one eye because the use of that eye is greater, but i believe that in
your case this is not because you have been using one eye more than
the other. I am amazed by the amount of screen time spent in your
typical day and i believe that in order for your eye problem to be
solved you would need to start slowly weening out of that large amount
of computer time. Then again I could be wrong and you might be having
some problems with your one eye due to more use of it

Well, I don't even think computer use is a factor.
I've got a 22 inch monitor recently (1680*1050, CRYSIS LOOKS AMAZING)
but no harmful effects. Anyway why don't you cure it by resting your
eyes. If the problem is strain, then the logical answer is rest after
    all don't you think.
