Focus N&D difficult to remove

Discussion in 'Optometry Archives' started by carlos sanchez, Apr 16, 2004.

  1. I'm trying out a trial pair of Focus Night and Day contact lenses.
For the few hours after putting them in they felt great, and my vision
was as good as it has ever been. After awhile though my eyes became a
bit irritated, nothing severe but enough to make me want to take them
out for the night, I figured they would just take a little getting used
    to.

I found that they were VERY hard to get out, it took several tries and I
ended up irritating my eyes quite a bit trying to remove them, is this
to be expected with this type of lens?
I have been wearing soft lenses for over 10 years (accuvue) and have
    never had this problem.

One thing I noticed is that the base curve for the N&D was a little
different than my accuvue's; the AV's were BC 8.8, the N&D's are 8.6,
could that have something to do with it?

    Thanks.....

Maybe they are a little too steep for you. Are you sleeping in the lenses?
If not, may I suggest the Acuvue Advance lenses as an alternative
silicone/hydrogel. They are not approved for overnight wear, but have very
high oxygen permeability, excellent wettability, and seem to have more
elasticity than the Focus N&D product.
