I recently went to a local optometrist to see abt new
    lenses for my current frames.

I wear bifocals..... progressive lenses with Crizal AR
    coating.

Having said that new lenses with same AR coating will
    cost me $292!

Anyway to get these lenses cheaper than that? I feel
    its a bit high.

  2. Why don't you discard them altogether and get a cure without glasses?

What is the exact lens brand and lens material? You might try Wal-Mart/Sams
    or Costco.

Varilux poly carb lenses with Crizal AR coating.

Again these are progressive bi-focal lenses as well
    OK
