Iris "jiggle" after cataract surgery

Discussion in 'Laser Eye Surgery' started by Benjamin Turzynski, Nov 10, 2003.

  1. It's been almost 3 weeks since I had cataract surgery in my left eye.
Since then I've noticed that my iris jiggles when I move my eye. I've
heard this is normal after cataract surgery. Is this correct? Also, is
this permanent or will the jiggling eventually go away with healing?

    Thanks

  2. This is called iridodonesis, and is due to the fact that the natural lens
was large and supported the iris, but the small implant does not. This is
perfectly normal and will not go away. It is harmless.

In some cases it is more pronounced due to associated jiggling of the lens
bag due to loose or weak zonules, most commonly with pseudoexfoliation
    syndrome.
