On Jan 2, 2018 my wife Patricia began having trouble seeing in her right eye. Went to her optometrist who advised we go see a Retina Specialist as they believed her retina to be detached. Immediately we went to WNY Retina Consultants in Williamsville, NY and seen Dr. Chistopher M. Jermak who examined my wife and said that she needed to have the gas bubble inserted into her eye and to lay in a 45 degree angle during the day and sleep at the very same angle for 5-6 weeks.

At the end of the 5th week she apparently had another tear in the retina and needed another bubble placed into her right eye. At this time Dr. Lee did the surgery and this time it was very painful as fluid had to be removed from the eye because of pressure it caused from inserting another gas bubble.

After Christmas she went back in for her checkup and seen Dr. Jermak who said that the gas bubble had to come out and that an oil bubble would be placed in her eye which is surgery that was done at the Buffalo Ambulatory facility in Cheektowaga. At that time he was also going to repair the tear by laser and remove the cataract that was more likely to occur because of the insertion of the gas bubbles. Dr. Jermac also removed the lens in her right eye. All this has happened since Nov 16 just 13 days after my wife turned 70. Approx. time of surgery was 45 mins to one hour. My wife was in surgery a total of 4 hours.

All restrictions on positioning have been lifted and the eye drops have been stopped which were four different ones and now only down to one drop per day.

Appears as if this is a very lengthy healing process and could take close to a year for all to heal and hopefully regain vision in the right eye? Dr. Jermak suggests after fully healing that another surgery be completed to insert the lenze back into her right eye and removal of the oil bubble.

    Any comments/suggestions welcomed
