I'm going to be switching to new rimless frames shortly
and am in the process of trying to figure out what lenses/AR
    I'm going to go with.

Simply judging from my current lenses, I don't want to go any lower than a
1.60 lens. I'd also like to try the newer Crizal Alize AR coating.

I do have some astigmatism. From what I've read, I'd be best off going
with an atoric lens. And of course, I'd like to have a high abbe lens.

    My presction is:

    R- OD -3.25-2.75x170
    L- OS -3.25-3.25x004

I seem to be having a hard time finding a lens material that meets all
these criteria. The Sola Vizio sounds like it'd be great except it only
comes as a finished lens with the UTMC AR.

One that looked very promising was from Optical Dynamics, the Clearlight.
It's an atoric with a abbe=40 but it's an 1.56 index lens. I'm not sure
how much thicker this would make the lens versus what I have now.

I'm not stuck on the Crizal Alize except that I'm wanting the best AR I
    can get.

I'm probably mistaken on some of my data so please! correct any mistakes
in either my data or logic. I just want a great set of lenses!

    Robert,

    Thanks, that certainly does help.

    I didn't realize that Sola's UTMC had a 2 yr warranty
I know the UTMC AR isn't as good, but if it held for 2 yrs
    I'd be happy).

My only question now is regarding polished edges on the
Finished Vizio lenses. Can I get them Finished & Polished
from Sola? I understand the issues with polishing AFTER
the AR is applied. Since the Vizio comes with the AR already,
what would I do if *I* had to get them polished separately?
    Just not polish them?

In fact, the frames ARE rimless (bottom half).

So, is it standard practice for those wearing rimless to NOT have the
    edges polished?

When you say to make sure the lab/optician will honor the warranty, do you
mean honor the warranty on the lenses BECAUSE they will be used on rimless
    frames?

Is this a big enough issue that I should consider an Unfinished lens that
I can have edge polished and AR coated?
