Macular pucker (wrinkle on the retina)

    I understand that when surgery is used to remove the wrinkle a layer
    of the retina is peeled off. Is this layer regenerated by the eye?
    Does the thinner retina loses functionality? What are the chances of
    reoccurrence of the pucker?
