Prescription data and Blank stock levels

Discussion in 'Optometry Archives' started by ultralightcolin, Nov 20, 2007.

  1. I am very interested to source statistical data for corrective optical
prescriptions as a means to understand what would be a sensible stock
range to satisfy the majority of customers 'off the shelf'.

I intend to open a Mini-Lab with little or preferably no surfacing.
Preferably only edging and fitting (drilling/grooving/polishing)

I intend to primarily fit Polycarbonate.

Obviously this will require an enormous investment in blanks, and I am
trying to understand just how wide a range would give me same-day
service for the majority of cases.

Where should I be looking for this data?

I expect the company selling you the edging equipment or the blanks
can supply you with this information; certainly the blank vendor can
easily tell you what range is most commonly used.
