I had PRK 6 days ago and I'm looking for a little reassurance. Right
now I'm on the weaker side of 20/40 and glare is still a major
problem. I don't even feel comfortable driving. I'm worried that I've
made a mistake in having this procedure done. Are my worries justified
    or am I overreacting? Thanks.

  2. You may not be overreacting, but you are reacting a bit premature.
PRK takes much longer for visual recover than LASIK. Six days is not
    nearly enough time.

In PRK the outermost layer of the cornea - the epithelium - is
removed. These cells need to regenerate, covering the entire
treatment area, then thicken, then fill in any gaps and smooth the
epithelial layer. Although these are the fastest reproducing cells in
the human body, this does take time.

A foreign body sensation and discomfort is common with PRK. Report
your concerns to your doctor, and have a lot of patience. When you
get to the three to six week stage, you will undoubtedly see a huge
    difference.

  4. Why LASIK? Surely this isn't in the Bates method?

You are probably over-reacting. Please come back and re-post in another
week to 10 days. I think you will have seen a difference.

That's right. This is sci.med.vision, where only discussions about
    scientific matters are held.

    Dear Rishi,

There is a bad habit of saying that "medicine" and "science"
    are exactly the same thing.

    I do not agree.

This is not med.vision or sci.vision. It is sci.med.vision, which I take
to mean the discussion of science-based medicine concerning vision.

Accordingly, any discussion of Bates and "curing" myopia with plus lenses
    should be off-topic.

  11. Unless these alternative methods give better results than yours.

Since this is the case, I think you - as a scientist - should manifest
    more interest!
