  1. Got my remade progressives the other day. After all the problems with the
original misfitted set of Essilor Ovations I was still dubious. My frames
were reset to bench spec, new Varilux Comforts were fitted 6mm lower, and
the new set was reset to my face. The change in fitting height is
dramatic. I had no problems at all virtually from the start. Now I can see
how these things are supposed to work.

I now believe that the folks who have non-adapt issues pretty much have to
be having fit problems. Thankfully my optician was open to listening and
smart enough to see the problem eventually. Kudos to Doug Gaudet of Gaudet
Optical in Halifax, Nova Scotia for seeing things through to a
satisfactory conclusion. I highly recommend him even though I initially
had problems (not of his making).

At least 75% of the progressive lens problems I diagnose can be attributed
to improper seg height, PDs, and other problems of fit or frame. I see
these even coming from my own optical as even highly qualified staff make
mistakes or get in a hurry.
