Question about Costco Optical and My Contact Lens Experience

Everyone knows I have been enjoying my contact lens experience, but
every time I leave the eye doctor I am disappointed. Today was my third
appointment in less than 2 weeks!

This was my supposedly 1-week follow-up (although it is actually 12 days
since I got my lenses. He says they are doing fantastic and that I have
no tissue damage. I am wearing Acuvue 2 trial lenses.

Then he says that I can wear them more each day (I've already been
wearing them 12-14 hours a day based on the wearing schedule he gave
before) and that I need to come back in one week and maybe he'll get me
some better lenses? Better lenses? I just want my Acuvue 2 lenses that
I'm wearing. By the time I go back next week, it will be 21 days since
I got these Acuvue 2 trial lenses...they will be 3 weeks old!

They never tell me what is going on or explains anything.

So, I made an appointment with Costco Optical. Will they have to do the
regular eye exam too or can they get that from my previous doctor? I'm
hoping I can just do a contact lens exam at Costco, go back for the
standard follow-ups and get my prescription and buy my lenses there
where they are a lot cheaper. I'm going to wear my Acuvue 2 trial
lenses in there and tell them I've had them for 12 days as I have.

Do you think this eye doctor will do a dilation exam? I'm a bit weary
about those (never had one) and my old doctor never gave me one.

Think I'll like Costco? I'm actually not that hard to please. At least
I'm excellent at taking the lenses on/off now (I did that great from the
start). So I shouldn't have to go through much training as I can show
them I'm great at that already. I like that they aren't very busy
too..they gave me a large range of appointments to choose from.

My one concern: They did another tear test on me today. Will it be ok
if the Costco doctor does another tear test on me tomorrow? They tend
to give me an earache and headache.

    Best wishes,
    Kimi

I'm not sure what you want from your lenses. Also, why don't you ask
your Dr. why he want to give you new lenses. You don't have to wait for
an appointment to talk to him, just give him a call at the office. Don't
just take a non-answer, dig in there until you're satisfied.

What do you want explained? He said you are doing well. If you want more
info, just ask. He wants to make sure the lenses are safe for your eyes at
a longer wearing time before supplying your lenses.
You may find the standard follow up is the same as your doctore wanted.

and get my prescription and buy my lenses there
They won't know which lens you are wearing (ie base curve and power) so may
have to start all over. Why are you stopping with your original fitter?

Most doctors will want to do a new exam on you. I'm not clear as to
why you feel the need to switch doctors. I will say however that not
having a dilated exam is EXTREMELY disconcerting to me. You have
NEVER had one?? In my opinion, that's like going to the dentist and
say "Look at my front teeth, but not my back." That's obviously no
    good.

I stuck with my current doctor, I cooled off. However, no, I have never
    had a dilated exam.

Well, I've been going to eye doctors since I was 14 and never had a
dilation exam until this most recent exam last month - 32 years after the
    first.
