things getting dimmer?

I seem to have a vision problem that has been getting worse. I am 55. I have
used reading glasses for a few years. Now it seems I need more and more light
    to read with.

I don't have diabeties that I know of. My blood sugar test has been about
    100. But carbs make me put on weight and I'm almost obese. I wonder if there
may be any buildup of anything near the retina that might cause this problem.

An optometrist gave me an eye exam a few months ago but found nothing.

You didn't mention if you were taking any medications.

  3. I think you mean he found nothing abnormal. Please post the results of
what he did find (I'm sure he found advanced presbyopia, and some
refractive error). If you can post those numbers, you'll get a better
result here. As to requiring more light, that is normal for your age if
you are NOT using a prescribed reading lens. If you have the correct
reading lens (NOT over-the-counter), then that is NOT a normal thing and
    needs to be investigated further.
