    Hello All,

I have recently had a trial Toric lens fitted, which works quite well. I
find that the prescription seems a little out though (my Contact Lens
optician has looked at it on my eye and believes it is centering correctly).
A friend of mine said that this is because trial contact lenses are made to
a lower quality to retail lenses, I also remember the optician saying
something about this (almost under his breath!). Does anyone know if this
is true? I have another week with this lens, and dont want to assume the
retail version will be perfect if it is not going to be!

    Thanks

A friend of mine said that this is because trial contact lenses are made to
Absolutely not. It costs _more_ to have two inventories, and a lot more to have
    two manufacturing processes.

Torics don't have to be perfect, and the consistency between one lens and the
    next is pretty good, considering.

If it's clear enough that you don't notice blur with both eyes open, and
comfortable enough you don't know it's there, then don't fix it.

Thanks Mike, I did think it sounded a little unusual. I have only been
wearing contacts for 3 days now so I can only assume this is my eyes going
through accustomisation, but I do get quite a lot of blurring, and my eyes
tend to water a lot - is this normal during the first week ?

Maybe some who start out like this will be okay, but frequent blurring in torics
calls for improving the fit, and watering (spilling down the cheek) isn't really
normal for any soft contact. If these aren't much better by your first followup
visit, I'd ask to try some other lens.

It's not watering that much, its very mild, but enough to cause the lens to
slip slightly. I tend to find it worse when walking in Air Conditioned
offices - but apparently that is normal ? I also find it hard to read
printed paper which is always blurred. My prescription is +1.25 -1.25 X015,
but lenses don't come in 5 degree versions according to the fitter, so I
have to wear a X020. Given that, do you think I would be better off with
    RGP's ?
