White Rings around Lenses

Discussion in 'Optometry Archives' started by Jim Wilkinson, Dec 5, 2003.

  1. The lenses for my glasses have white rings around them. Is there a way
to make the lenses more invisible? Can Lens Crafters or Pearle Vision
    solve this problem?

My lenses are 1.67 high index with anti-reflective coating. The edge
of the lenses are practically as thin as the frames. The edge of the
lenses are not polished because that usually makes the white rings
    more prominant.

I've noticed people with thicker lenses without the "white ring"
problem. I just didn't feel comfortable asking total strangers about
    their glasses.

I hope someone out there has the answer. I don't like wearing glasses
that look thicker than they actually are.

    Thanks in advance,

I don't think anybody minds strangers asking about something like that.
I've even asked amputees about their prostheses, and they were
definitely happy to explain. It's not really a personal question like
"My, I'm sure you're heavier than you look, how much DO you weigh?"

    Carry on...

Try on a tiny spot of the white ring oil, the spot become lesser white but
not that shiny as if polished.
If the results are fine carefully rub the whole ring with an oiled tissue.

    Maybe this helps
